MoeGo vs Gingr: Which One Fits Your Pet Business?

One was built for mobile grooming, the other for boarding and daycare. Pricing, strengths and a third option for small shops

Editorial Team

Comparing MoeGo vs Gingr is a little like comparing a grooming van with a boarding kennel. Both are pet businesses and both are well run, but they started from opposite ends. Knowing where each one began tells you most of what you need.\

‍

We don't make either of them. We make Teddy, a smaller product for independent groomers, which gets one short section near the end. The rest is about these two.

‍

Where each one came from

MoeGo started with mobile groomers. Its early strength was a calendar that understood drive time and service areas. It has since expanded to salons, and more recently toward boarding and daycare, but the DNA is appointment-based grooming.

‍

Gingr started with boarding and daycare facilities. Its strength is managing dogs on site: reservations, capacity, check-in and check-out, packages. Grooming is one of several service types it supports.

‍

So the first question isn't "which is better." It's "which end am I closer to?"

Scheduling

This is the clearest difference.

‍

In MoeGo, the unit is an appointment with a groomer at a time and, for mobile, at an address. The system helps you place it well: who's nearby, how long the drive is, whether it fits the day.

‍

In Gingr, the unit is a reservation at a facility. The system helps you manage how many dogs are in the building, which runs are occupied and which services are attached to each stay. Grooming appointments can be scheduled by time or by slot.

‍

A mobile groomer in Gingr would be fighting the software. A 60-dog daycare in a grooming-first tool would be too.

‍

Pricing

MoeGo reported plans: Basic about $49, Growth about $99 per van, Ultimate about $159 per van, Enterprise by quote. Messaging can add to this on lower tiers.

‍

Gingr reported plans: Spa (grooming) about $105, Play (daycare) about $145, Stay (boarding) about $155, Enterprise by quote. Gingr's own materials cite a $105 to $180 range and say SMS, marketing and core features are included.

‍

Two example bills, using those reported figures:

3-van mobile company~$297 on Growth, plus SMSNot designed for this
Daycare and boarding with a grooming roomAsk about their boarding features and pricing~$155 on Stay

‍

Client communication

Both send reminders and both support two-way messaging.

‍

MoeGo's automation is flexible, and its top tier adds a branded phone number and review requests. Lower tiers are widely reported to use message bundles.

‍

Gingr's selling point is that there's no separate SMS charge. It also has built-in email marketing and a pre-check-in flow for owners.

‍

If you text a great deal and are comparing the lower MoeGo tiers with Gingr, do the messaging math before the plan math.

‍

Day-to-day feel

MoeGo is modern and fairly quick to learn. Reviewers rate it highly, around 4.8 on Capterra across a couple hundred reviews. It works well on a phone, which matters in a van.

‍

Gingr is powerful and dense. Nearly everything is configurable, and that takes time to learn. Gingr provides onboarding and a training platform. It's most at home on a front desk computer.

‍

Choose MoeGo if

  • You're mobile, especially with more than one van
  • You run a grooming salon with no boarding
  • You want a client-facing app
  • You'd rather be set up in days than weeks

‍

Choose Gingr if

  • Boarding or daycare is your main revenue
  • Grooming is an add-on service inside a larger facility
  • You have multiple locations with front desk staff
  • You want to configure the system closely to your process

‍

For a look at how daycare models are changing, The Daily Groomer's episode on the future of dog daycare is useful context if you're on the Gingr side of this choice.

‍

If neither quite fits

There's a group both products serve less well: the solo groomer or two-to-five person salon that doesn't board and doesn't run a fleet. For that shop, MoeGo can feel like more than is needed once messaging is added, and Gingr is aimed elsewhere entirely.

‍

That's who we built Teddy for. It's $49, $99 or $199 per location, grooming only, with unlimited two-way texting on every plan and an assistant that books and messages when you ask. It has no kennel management and less fleet depth than MoeGo. If you're in that middle group, see Teddy vs MoeGo or the pricing page.

‍

Other small-shop options include GrooMore and Pawfinity. Our 8-product comparison for 2026 covers them.

‍

Questions to ask on both demos

  1. Show me a typical day for a business like mine. Not a generic tour.
  2. What exactly is my monthly cost with my number of vans, locations and staff?
  3. What's included for text messaging, and what's extra?
  4. How long does onboarding take and who does the data import?
  5. Can I export everything if I leave?
