6 Gingr Alternatives for Shops That Only Groom
Gingr alternatives for grooming-only businesses that don't board or run daycare

Gingr is very good software for the business it was designed around: a facility with kennels, playgroups and a front desk checking dogs in and out all day. If that's not you, a lot of what you're paying for sits unused. That's why groomers go looking for Gingr alternatives.
This list is for shops that only groom. No boarding, no daycare, no training classes. If you do run those, stay where you are. Gingr is hard to beat for multi-service facilities.
Full disclosure: Teddy is ours and it's on the list. We've put it in the order that makes sense for the reader, not first by default.
Why grooming-only shops outgrow Gingr (or never grow into it)
- Reservation thinking. Gingr's model is built on stays and run cards. Grooming is appointment-and-table work.
- Price floor. Gingr's grooming-focused Spa tier is reported at around $105 a month. Solo groomers can find capable tools for half that.
- Setup depth. It's highly customizable, which is a strength for a 60-kennel resort and a chore for a two-table salon.
In fairness, Gingr says SMS and core features are included in every plan with no add-on fees. That's better than some competitors.
The six at a glance
Competitor prices are from third-party listings as of October 2026. Check each vendor for current numbers.
1. MoeGo
The best-known name in mobile grooming software. Smart scheduling that accounts for drive time, service areas, a client app and strong automation.
Good for: van-based groomers, especially with two or more vehicles.
Think twice if: you text heavily and are on a lower tier. Several pricing breakdowns note messaging as an extra cost. We compared the two directly on our Teddy vs MoeGo page.
2. Teddy
Built for independents. Calendar, client and pet records, request-based online booking, unlimited two-way texting, intake forms, digital agreements and payments through Square. There's also an assistant: you ask it by text or voice to book, reschedule or message a client and it does it once you confirm.
Good for: home groomers, solo salon owners and teams of two to five who want less screen time.
Think twice if: you need boarding, daycare, built-in retail inventory or enterprise reporting. We don't do those. Plans are $49, $99 and $199 per location on the pricing page.
3. GrooMore
A simple, grooming-only tool with scheduling, messaging, reminders and client records. Listings put it between about $39 and $69 a month with no contracts or setup fees.
Good for: salons that want the basics done cleanly at a low price.
Think twice if: you want AI features or a lot of automation. Our Teddy vs GrooMore page goes further.
4. Pawfinity
Long-running pet business software with detailed grooming features: breed-specific notes, vaccination tracking, barcode and inventory tools. It carries a 4.6 average from just over a hundred Capterra reviews.
Good for: owners who like detailed records and don't mind a learning curve.
Think twice if: a modern, minimal interface matters a lot to you. Try the free trial and see how it feels.
5. DaySmart Pet
Formerly 123Pet. A traditional full salon suite with integrated point of sale, inventory, payroll and marketing.
Good for: salons selling significant retail, or teams already trained on it.
Think twice if: you want to know the price before a sales call. We keep a separate list of DaySmart alternatives too.
6. Square Appointments
Not grooming software, but plenty of new groomers start here because the single-user plan is free and they already have a Square reader. Paid tiers are listed at $29 and $69 per location.
Good for: your first six months, when cost matters most.
Think twice if: you need pet profiles. Square's records are built around people, so breed, coat, vaccines and behavior notes end up in a free-text box.
How to choose in ten minutes
Ask yourself four questions.
- Van or building? Van: start with MoeGo and Teddy. Building: any of the six.
- How many groomers? One: Teddy Budget, GrooMore or Square. Two to five: Teddy Core, Pawfinity or DaySmart. More than five: MoeGo or DaySmart.
- How much do you text? A lot: prioritize unlimited messaging.
- Do you sell retail? A lot: DaySmart or Pawfinity.
Then trial your top two for a week each with real appointments. A demo shows you features. A week shows you how many taps it takes to check out a client with a wet dog under your arm.
Moving your data out of Gingr
Export your owners and animals from Gingr's reports before you cancel. Check that notes, vaccine dates and upcoming appointments are in the file. Most vendors will import it for you. Teddy does it free. One caution: old boarding and daycare history usually won't carry over into grooming-only software, so save a copy for your own records.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Gingr alternative for groomers?
It depends on your setup. MoeGo suits mobile fleets, Teddy suits solo groomers and small teams, and DaySmart Pet suits retail-heavy salons.
Is Gingr good for grooming-only businesses?
It works, but it's built for boarding and daycare first. Grooming-only shops often pay for features they never open.
How much does Gingr cost?
Third-party trackers report roughly $105 a month for the grooming-focused Spa tier, with higher tiers for daycare and boarding. Gingr quotes custom packages for multiple locations.
Are there free Gingr alternatives?
Square Appointments has a free single-user plan. It isn't pet-specific, so most groomers move on as they grow.
Can I import Gingr client data into another system?
Yes. Export owners and pets as a file and your new provider can import it. Teddy handles the import at no charge.
